PSA digs into the Canadian mining industry with world-class Pronto Xi ERP Software

September 11th, 2012

PSA Inc., a leading North American Pronto Xi ERP partner changes the ERP software landscape for the Canadian mining industry with expansion of its service offerings.

PSA Inc., a leading ERP services provider, is changing the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software landscape for the Canadian mining industry. Canada may be resource rich, but it suffers from a shortfall in mining industry enterprise solutions and mining-experienced ERP implementation resources. PSA is improving the availability of ERP software and services to the mining community beginning with the addition of three top mining professionals with global experience in implementing award-winning Pronto Xi ERP software to the mining community – enterprise software that is known globally for its proven mining fit.

Pronto Xi is a comprehensive enterprise resource planning software with hundreds of mining implementations spanning over six continents. Known around the globe for its mining capabilities in areas of asset management, maintenance management, procurement, inventory control and project costing, Pronto Xi has set itself apart – particularly for junior and JV mining companies and mining suppliers that are looking for a full-spectrum mining enterprise solution but at a more affordable price point. Most recently Pronto Xi has enhanced its business intelligence capability through partnership with IBM Cognos allowing mining headquarter locations to benefit from increased visibility into their remote mine operations.

PSA recognized that mining industry customers are often lumped into the manufacturing ERP software category, which does not concentrate on mining intensive functionality like multi-site/multi-currency configuration, preventative maintenance, financial consolidations, and fixed asset management. By employing some of the foremost Pronto Xi mining resources in the world, PSA is changing the ERP landscape for Canadian mining operations. These expert resources identify with the challenges, opportunities and mining functionality required to assist mining customers reduce operating costs, and improve production efficiencies to achieve profitability. PSA is pleased to announce the addition of three new mining expert resources to the Pronto Xi ERP software services team, which bring with them the following benefits.

  • An additional 25 years of combined ERP software delivery experience to the mining community;
  • Knowledge of operational practices for a variety of mineral resource types including copper, iron ore, manganese, gold, and cobalt;
  • Increased global experience working in mining office headquarters and mine sites in far reaching countries around the globe such as Tanzania, Laos, Ghana, South Africa, and Australia.
  • Experience with international payroll solutions, finance and taxation, regulatory compliance and multi-company/multi-currency configurations.

“The Canadian ERP software industry has left a gap where miners are concerned,” says Marc Harris, President of PSA Inc. “Many ERP systems are too cumbersome and expensive, and many service providers do not have the experienced resources to deal with the unique and complex demands of mining organizations – like tenement management, multi-currency and comprehensive preventative maintenance management. PSA is filling this gap by focusing on the needs of the mining industry; providing a scalable, mining industry proven ERP solution with breadth and depth that is supported by professional resources that know the mining industry.”

PSA supports mining organizations and mining suppliers in Canada, the United States, and abroad. With its new resources, PSA now looks forward to further supporting the mining community with its world-class ERP, Pronto Xi.

Pronto Software Breaks Mould, Announces Rebrand

February 27th, 2012

FEBRUARY 27, 2012 – Pronto Software, one of Australia’s most established IT software and services companies, has today announced a major rebrand as it continues to expand in a range of local and international sectors.

The Pronto Software rebrand has been implemented to deliver new messages that focus on the 30 year old company’s evolution and growth in Australia and overseas. The creative and design development was carried out in cooperation with branding agency, Interbrand.

Managing Director of Pronto Software, David Jackman, said the rebrand marks a fresh way for the company to distinguish itself in the IT space in Australia and overseas.

“Pronto Software has been evolving and growing with customers in Australia, North America, Europe and Asia and we are very proud to announce a fresh look that represents the way we will continue to deliver value through our products and services for many years to come.

Pronto Software first began operations in 1976 and has since grown to 300 staff serving 1,500 organisations around the world with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) software solutions.

“The ability to evolve and adapt to serve changing market demands has always been a crucial element of Pronto Software’s approach and success story. In creating this new branding, we have made every effort to produce something unique and different that would challenge the relative conformity of the entire ERP and BI space,” Jackman added.

Marketing Manager at Pronto Software, Paul Goepfert, said the rebrand also incorporates the organisation’s approach to innovation, business evolution and plans for the future.

“Pronto Software’s business philosophy is based on listening very carefully to our customers, adapting to their requirements and revealing the best solutions for them. The new branding has been developed to reflect this approach,” Goepfert said.

A key characteristic of the new Pronto Software logo is the use of the interrobang punctuation mark – customised in the new logo to represent the ‘P’ in the company’s name. The interrobang combines elements of a question mark and exclamation point and was originally designed by Martin Speckter in 1962.

General Manager at Interbrand Melbourne, Andy Wright, worked closely with Pronto Software during the rebrand. He said the brand strategy and creative process began with getting to the heart of what made Pronto different. “We discovered that this was a company with an incredible attention to people and the needs of customers. They listen, and then adapt solutions to what customers’ need, which help them find out new and useful information about their business. It was refreshing to see in a category characterised by a one size fits all approach.”

He said the interrobang has been used in the design as a way to best visually represent moments of insight, inspiration and discovery. “The other key was to put the focus for design and communication on the moments of insight versus more clichéd photography displaying computers, handshakes and customer service representatives with headsets.“

Pronto Software builds Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions that help organisations manage business information. The company provides services to a wide range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, resources, manufacturing and logistics. Its customers include Kathmandu, Funtastic, Tyco, Bridgestone, Anvil Mining and more.

According to Quest Serviced Apartments Chief Financial Officer Doug Hutchinson, an operator of franchised accommodation businesses in Australasia, Pronto Software has removed significant implementation efforts typically associated with BI and delivered an easy end-user experience.

Dimensions also gives us a large suite of pre-formatted reports and dashboards available out of the box, which will improve efficiencies and significantly reduce the cost of investment.”

“When planning for this release more than 18 months ago, we envisioned a product that’s not just a logical extension of the success we’ve built so far, but a breakthrough solution that will make our ERP engine smarter and create greater access to knowledge, to enable customers to innovate and differentiate,” said Pronto Software Managing Director David Jackman.

Pronto Software deliver world’s first ERP system with IBM Cognos 10 embedded out of the box

October 25th, 2010

Pronto Software delivers world’s first ERP system with IBM Cognos 10 embedded out of the box

Las Vegas, 25 October 2010: Pronto Software, a leading developer of enterprise software solutions, today announced it has integrated IBM’s latest business intelligence (BI) suite, IBM Cognos 10, into the upcoming release of its flagship solution, PRONTO-Xi, to enable quicker, smarter decision-making for mid-market customers.

IBM Cognos 10 was launched today at IBM Information On Demand 2010 Forum in Las Vegas. Pronto Software is the first ERP vendor worldwide to embed and optimise IBM Cognos 10 functionality into its software, delivering instant value to Pronto Software’s 1,500 customers globally when they upgrade.

The seamless integration of two industry-leading solutions, PRONTO-Xi’s strong transactional ERP system and the powerful IBM Cognos 10, provides enhanced reporting capabilities and instant business insight, thereby empowering users to access meaningful data anytime, anywhere.

According to Pronto Software Managing Director David Jackman, the strategic partnership with IBM is a defining step in its vision to increase the functionality and breadth of Pronto’s product portfolio and offer its customers a competitive advantage by delivering them the next generation ERP system that includes an intuitive BI capability out of the box.

“Over the past five years, Pronto Software has had a heavy development focus on simplifying IT for our customers. This is becoming increasingly important from a business analysis and reporting perspective as volumes of data increase, making fast and effective business decisions all the more challenging,” said Jackman.

“We’ve done all the integration work so that IBM Cognos 10 is tightly embedded into PRONTO-Xi and our customers can start reaping the benefits immediately. They will be able to create ad hoc reports, slice and dice the data, and create dashboards in a new intuitive interface,” added Jackman.

Jackman explained one of the biggest obstacles to gaining insight from data is demystifying the complexities in the underlying database. “IBM Cognos 10 offers a simple mechanism for providing at-a-glance insight into key business drivers in an easy to understand way.”

“Pronto has been a valuable member of our IBM Cognos 10 beta program and instrumental in validating the value and benefits Cognos 10 will bring to midsize companies,” said Mychelle Mollot, vice president worldwide marketing, business analytics at IBM.

In late 2009, Pronto Software researched the market for BI solutions that were user-friendly, scalable and had the ability to cope with the complexities of large underlying data structures and present the data in an intuitive and simplified format for easy reporting.

“We undertook an assessment of the best BI products in the world,” explained Jackman. “We selected IBM Cognos BI as our platform as it was the only one that met and exceeded our requirements in terms of both our business and the needs of our customers going forward.”

“Up until now, the mid-market has been under-served as BI has been perceived by many of our clients as a little out of reach and the deployment for end users challenging. Through this innovative integration with IBM Cognos 10, we will be able to differentiate our solution in the mid-market and deliver out of the box BI to our customers worldwide in one hit,” added Jackman.

“We can see a major sea change, particularly for Pronto customers. They’ll be moving from having to talk to the IT department about writing a technical report based on a specification to easily using BI tools to make informed decisions centred on the needs of the business,” said Jackman.

PRONTO-Xi’s newest release will be launched in March 2011. A beta version will be available for Pronto Software customers from November 2010.
